UAE company fails to extend its contract with Astana airport
Terminals Astana Airport Management, a subsidiary of Terminals Holding from the UAE, is no longer the management company for the Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport in Astana. The corresponding agreement, signed on Nov. 7, 2023, expired on Jan. 7, 2025, according to the Committee of State Property and Privatization under the Ministry of Finance, as reported by Kursiv.media.
«The trust management agreement signed [by Terminals Astana Airport Management] with the committee expired on Jan. 7, 2025. As of today, 100% of the airport’s shares have been transferred to the communal ownership of Astana,» the agency stated in response to Kursiv.media’s inquiry.
The committee also noted that since the trust management agreement is no longer valid, the management company was not required to prepare a mid-term development plan for the airport.
At the end of 2024, Vice Minister of Transport Maksat Kaliaskarov told Kursiv.media that Terminals Astana Airport Management had been preparing a 25-year development strategy for the airport. The company had hoped to extend the agreement past its Jan 7 expiration date. Kaliaskarov also highlighted that the investor had promised to finance the development of the Astana airport if the contract was extended.
