Almaty International Airport, in collaboration with the Almaty Museum of Arts, turned the arrivals area into an art space. Now, travelers are welcomed into the city with masterpieces of Kazakhstani and world art rather than from passport control.

Reproductions of works by Kazakhstani and foreign artists from the museum collection have been set along the path in the arrivals area. The idea behind the project is to introduce city guests to local art before they leave the airport.

Works from the «Qonaqtar» (Guests) exhibition are at the center of the display. The choice of name is not accidental. For tourists, it symbolizes Kazakh hospitality, and for those returning home, it reflects the traditional belief that every person is valued and cherished.

The exhibition is open to the public. Previously, the airport administration stated several times that the new terminal would give art a special place, and that has indeed been implemented.

Previously, Kursiv.media reported that Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport has taken action following the recent flooding at Almaty International Airport. The Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan held the airport’s management administratively liable for deficiencies in the airport’s infrastructure.
