Kazakh designer Ismail Luceat-Anima creates avant-garde pieces that are often better suited to conceptual photo shoots than everyday wear. He founded his own label, Luceat Anima — Latin for «light of the soul» — and centers his work on what he calls the aesthetics of destruction.

A distinctive creative approach

The designer aims to incorporate a wide range of techniques and textures into his garments, using layered materials and unconventional forms to express his vision.

«The aesthetics of destruction appeal to me. The world around me is crumbling, but at the same time, something very powerful shines through clothing, self-expression and imagery,» he said.

Building a brand and audience

According to his social media, Luceat-Anima created his first collection in 2025 and primarily produces custom-made pieces. In Kazakhstan, his brand is mainly sold in Astana, while much of his clientele comes from Europe and the U.S.

«I love striking, unconventional images — moments when you suddenly release all the energy you’ve been holding in for so long,» he said. «In today’s world, we can’t always express our emotions right away, so I channel that negative energy and aggression into my art.»
