French DJ and musician Vincent Belorgey, better known as Kavinsky, has died at his home in Paris at the age of 50.
The Paris prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the musician’s death. No further details have been released.
Kavinsky rose to international fame with his hit «Nightcall,» which was featured in the 2011 film «Drive,» starring Ryan Gosling. The song became his signature hit and remains one of the most recognizable synthwave tracks of the past decade.
In 2024, Kavinsky performed «Nightcall» at the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics alongside Belgian singer Angèle, introducing the iconic track to an audience of millions worldwide.
Kavinsky’s death comes just weeks after another loss in the music industry. Earlier this month, singer Bonnie Tyler, best known for the hits «I Need a Hero» and «Total Eclipse of the Heart,» also died.
