Arsen Tomsky, founder of ride-hailing company inDrive, who obtained Kazakhstani citizenship in 2022, has announced his marriage to Kamila Lukpanova, former head of the Almaty Tourism Bureau. The businessman shared a photo of the newlyweds on Threads.
«Well, that’s it. +1 son-in-law for the Kazakh people,» Tomsky wrote.
The photo shows the couple on the shores of the Bosphorus in Istanbul in their wedding attire, with Tomsky wearing a classic suit and his wife dressed in white. The post garnered thousands of comments congratulating the newlyweds.
Friends of the businessman also shared news of the joyous occasion on social media.
«Today is Arsen Tomsky and Kamila’s wedding. Friends from all over the world came to congratulate the newlyweds on this important occasion!» wrote Armanzhan Baitasov, an entrepreneur and owner of the Forbes franchise in Kazakhstan and Georgia.
According to photos from the wedding, the ceremony was also attended by investor Margulan Seissembai, Technodom Operator JSC founder Eduard Kim and Astana Group President Nurlan Smagulov, among other prominent business figures.
Pre-wedding rituals
The couple announced their wedding preparations in June, when Tomsky spoke about the traditional Kazakh pre-wedding rituals of «syrga salu» and «kuda tusu,» which took place in Uralsk, Lukpanova’s hometown.
Lukpanova previously headed the Almaty Tourism Bureau. She later founded TANA Foundation, an organization focused on urban planning. According to her social media posts, she has recently been living and studying in London.
In 2022, Tomsky relocated inDrive’s headquarters from Russia to Kazakhstan and obtained Kazakhstani citizenship. In May 2024, he ranked 10th among Kazakhstan’s richest businessmen, with an estimated net worth of $920 million.
He also appeared on the Kursiv Talks podcast, where he discussed his business, shared his predictions for the future and reflected on his childhood and upbringing.
Both Tomsky and Lukpanova were previously married. Tomsky has two daughters from his previous marriage, while Lukpanova also has a daughter.
