Emir of Qatar Plans to Visit Kazakhstan
According to Ruslan Dalenov, head of the Kazakhstani Ministry of National Economy, the country is preparing for a visit from Sheik Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the emir of Qatar.
According to the minister, the joint Kazakhstan/Qatar commission is currently working on topics that can be discussed during a future visit of the emir of Qatar. The volume of trade between Kazakhstan and Qatar is about $2 million per year. As Dalenov assumed, the emir’s official visit to Kazakhstan may help to increase the volume of bilateral trade.
«A commission meeting is very important, because it’s held before the emir of Qatar, His Excellency Sheik Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, visits Kazakhstan. This event can provide a huge boost for business and other relations between both countries. It’s an honor and great responsibility for us,» said Dalenov during the meeting of the joint commission on a high level in Nur-Sultan.
The heads of the two countries already met last June in Dushanbe where they participated in the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia. In September there were several inter-parliamentary meetings and in November, the Kazakhstani delegation headed by the chairman of the president’s administration visited Qatar. According to Dalenov, since October 1, 2019, no visas are needed for Qatar citizens if they travel to Kazakhstan.
«The main point of bilateral cooperation is investments. First of all, Qatar Investment Authority is ready to cooperate with Kazakhstan Infrastructure Fund through joint financing of the various projects in Kazakhstan. I am sure that all joint commission initiatives and decisions will contribute to the strategic partnership between the two countries,» Dalenov concluded.
