BoxRec Removes Golovkin from Boxing Rating
A reputable website BoxRec.com has removed Gennadiy Golovkin, IBF/IBO middleweight champion from its rating.
The reason BoxRec removed Golovkin from its rating is the long period when the champion from Kazakhstan didn’t fight. The last time he appeared on the ring was on December 18, 2020. He fought with Kamil Szeremeta and won ahead of schedule.
When a boxer does not fight for 12 months in a row, BoxRec.com assigns him the status «inactive» and removes him from its ratings and P4P.
The website has also updated the rating of the best boxers from Kazakhstan:
1. Zhanibek Alimkhanuly (middleweight)
2. Kanat Islam (middleweight)
3. Ruslan Madiyev (first welterweight)
4. Batyr Jumkembayev (first welterweight)
5. Daniyar Eleusinov (welterweight)
6. Ali Akhmedov (second middleweight)
7. Zhan Kossobutskiy (heavyweight)
8. Aydos Erbosynuly (second middleweight)
9. Sadriddin Akhmedov (first middleweight)
10. Talgat Shayken (welterweight).
Golovkin had planned to get back in the ring on December 29 in Japan. However, due to the surge of COVID-19 cases, the fight with Ryota Murata was rescheduled for the next year as the government of Japan has banned foreigners from entering the country.
