Weightlifter Nadezhda Nogay and discus thrower Maria Telushkina received punishment for using prohibited performance-enhancing drugs. This was reported by the Kazakhstan National Anti-Doping Center (KazNADC).
Weightlifter Nadezhda Nogay, five-time world champion in various age categories, first had a positive doping test four years ago, before the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, which she ultimately didn’t attend.
After a lengthy trial, she was disqualified for four years with the wording: «use or attempted use of a prohibited substance or a prohibited method.»
The weightlifter has already served most of the term, since the beginning of her disqualification was on June 10, 2017. This means that under favorable circumstances, Nogay will be able to return to the platform next summer.
Multiple champion of Kazakhstan in track and field athletics, discus thrower Maria Telushkina received a two-year disqualification for using clomiphene, a drug that enriches blood with erythrocytes. Her term of punishment started on June 15, 2020.
It bears reminding that last year, Alexey Poltoranin, the famous Kazakhstani skier, was disqualified for four years due to illegal use of blood doping (EPO).
