Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan Are Ready to Cooperate on Migration

Mazhilis has approved ratification of a bilateral agreement

On Wednesday the lower chamber of the Kazakhstani parliament Mazhilis approved a draft law on ratification of the agreement between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan on migration, the Interfax Kazakhstan news agency reported.

The agreement, which was originally signed on November 27, 2019, is designed to regulate the exchange of information on migration and citizenship issues, according to Erlan Turgumbayev, minister of internal affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

«The countries agreed to provide support to each other and exchange all relevant information and experience,» the official said.

As Turgumbayev noted, there are eight other agreements with Kyrgyzstan that have been developing. Once signed they should help to fight illegal immigration, extradite those who broke the rules and regulate migration processes.
