Kazakhstan’s peacekeepers might be sent to Ukraine if the United Nations decides to do so, according to Maulen Ashimbayev, chairman of the Senate, the upper chamber of Kazakhstan’s parliament.
As the official noted, diplomacy is still relevant for de-escalating the situation in Eastern Ukraine.
Along with Russia and Belarus, Kazakhstan is a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization; however, the country isn’t going to participate in the Russian operation in Ukraine.
«Kazakhstan is ready to send its troops anywhere in the globe if the UN decides to do so,» he said.
