Italian airline wants to launch new flights between Astana and Rome
Kazakhstan and Italy want to develop bilateral air travel. In particular, direct flights between Astana and Rome and Astana and Milan are expected to be launched this year, according to Lupo Rattazzi, CEO of Neos, an Italian airline.
During his meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Rattazzi said that close cooperation with Neas would contribute to the development of Kazakhstan’s civil aviation and the transportation industry of the country as a whole.
«The number of flights on the route between Almaty and Milan is going to be expanded. Also, new flights between Astana and Rome and Astana and Milan are expected,» the company said in a statement.
In turn, President Tokayev highlighted that flights between Almaty and Milan are highly popular. More than 70,000 people have used this flight since it became available in 2022.
Neos has been flying twice per week (on Mondays and Thursdays) from Milan to Almaty and back to Milan by two aircraft Boeing 737 and Boeing 787. These regular flights are based on legal arrangements between Kazakhstan and Italy. The NEOS airline was established in 2001 as a joint venture by Italian Alpitour S.p.A. and German TUI Group. The company’s headquarters is based in the airport of Malpensa in Milan. The airline carried out its first flight to Senegal on March 8, 2002. Currently, it is one of the largest private airlines in Italy with more than 70 destinations. In 2022, the company reported $640 million in turnover.
