Bibisara Assaubayeva, a grandmaster from Kazakhstan, has won a silver medal at the Tbilisi Women’s Grand Prix. She won two matches and drew in others. Assaubayeva scored 5.5 points, drawing in the final round against Indian chess grandmaster Vaishali Rameshbabu, as reported by Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

Alina Kashlinskaya of Poland, Assaubayeva’s main competitor, became the tournament champion with six points after winning against Mariya Muzychuk from Ukraine.

Earlier this month, students from Kazakhstani school won seven gold medals in rapid and blitz chess in Tashkent.

Additionally, thirteen Kazakhstani chess players earned medals in rapid and blitz during the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team Championships 2024, which brought together 315 of the world’s best chess players, including many world champions and top-rated players in both male and female categories.

In July, Kazakhstan hosted another chess tournament, during which Kazakhstani chess players set a record for the most matches played within 24 hours, helping the International Chess Federation (FIDE) achieve a Guinness World Record.

Both tournaments were organized by the Kazakhstan Chess Federation with financial support from Freedom Holding Corp.
