A new $70-million pharmaceutical plant, equipped for high-tech medicine production, will be built in Almaty, according to the cabinet’s press service.

Nobel Almaty Pharmaceutical Factory, JSC (Nobel AFF), part of Nobel Pharmaceuticals, an international holding company based in Turkey, will be the primary investor in the project. The new plant will feature an advanced R&D lab and a state-of-the-art automated warehouse system, unique in Kazakhstan.

Nobel AFF aims to boost its production capacity to 25 million packages by next year. The company has signed 11 long-term contracts to supply 106 different drugs.

«Of these medicines, 11 are new, including four original drugs produced under contract with Roche,» stated Nobel AFF CEO Svetlana Kil during a cabinet meeting.

Established in 2002 from the Almaty Pharmaceutical Factory, Nobel AFF has received over $80 million in Turkish investments over 22 years and currently employs about 500 specialists. The factory produces 104 molecules marketed as 228 different medications in various forms and dosages.

Nobel Pharmaceuticals, founded in 1964, operates five production facilities — three in Turkey, one in Kazakhstan and one in Uzbekistan. The company also promotes and distributes drugs in 20 countries worldwide.
