Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that the country no longer considers itself a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and has no intention of returning to membership.
«We said that we are suspending our participation in the organization. We do not participate in the preparation of documents or discussions; we do not propose anything and do not respond to suggestions from others. We do not use the right of veto. In fact, we consider ourselves outside the CSTO. I think the point of no return has already been passed,» Pashinyan said, as reported by Armenia Today.
The prime minister also noted that the CSTO can make decisions independently and that Yerevan will not interfere or exercise its right of veto.
«They can make any decisions they want; we are not going to meddle or remind them that we have the right of veto because we respect our colleagues,» Pashinyan highlighted.
In June, he announced that Armenia would quit the CSTO, though the timeline for this move has not yet been set.
In March, Pashinyan stated that the CSTO «creates security threats for Armenia, its future existence and sovereignty.»
