Japan expects to attract 28 million visitors to Expo 2025 in Osaka, as reported by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the fair’s organizer.

This is seven times more attendants than Astana received during Expo 2017. According to Egov.kz, Kazakhstan welcomed more than 3 million people, while Forbes Kazakhstan reported 4 million visitors.

The Expo 2025 world fair will take place on Yumeshima, an artificial island, from April 13 to Oct. 13. Over 160 nations are expected to participate, including Kazakhstan and Ukraine, while Russia is not on the list of participants.

The theme of the upcoming exposition is «Designing Future Society for Our Lives,» divided into three subtopics: «Saving Lives,» «Empowering Lives,» and «Connecting Lives.» Expo 2025 organizers aim to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Japan’s national strategy Society 5.0, which is Japan’s national strategy to develop a human-centered society.

Kazakhstan’s pavilion will be located in the Connecting Lives Zone, near the pavilions of South Korea, Greece, Luxembourg, Nepal, Iran, Monaco and Turkey.

The key idea of the pavilion is to elaborate the «Connecting Lives» subtheme through the symbolism of the shanyrak — the central element of a traditional Kazakh yurt, symbolizing the unity of peoples and cultures. The pavilion’s philosophy is built on three core principles: tolerance, unity and potential.

There are regular flights from Kazakhstan to Osaka; flight tickets can be easily booked via aviata.kz starting at $284.
