President Tokayev is going to reveal results of investigation into January events in March

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is going to reveal preliminary results of the investigation into the January events during his national address in March, the president’s official spokesperson Berik Uali wrote on Facebook.

The spokesman noted that so far the investigation is still ongoing as investigators need some time to make sure this task is done.

As President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said in the interview with the Qazaqstan TV channel, all the information will be revealed. We are not going to hide anything from the people of Kazakhstan.

The official added that the authorities have already changed pre-trial restrictions for the vast majority of those who have been detained in January. Hundreds of people were set free. The government is also aimed to protect the civil rights of all detainees still in custody.

All cases of police wrongdoing have been investigated. On the other hand, every serious crime committed during the unrest (murder, rape, looting, robbery, etc.) will be punished as the law requires.
