Kazakhstan Changes Its Permanent Representative to the United Nations

Zhanar Aitzhan was discharged from office by the president’s edict

Erlan Alimbayev has been appointed Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UN, the Akorda.kz websites reported.

The former representative of Kazakhstan Zhanar Aitzhan at Geneva was removed from office by President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev’s edict.

Erlan Alimbayev was born in 1975 in Kyzylorda. He graduated from the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi and Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations (Switzerland).

Alimbayev holds the rank of an Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary.

Over his career he has worked as an ambassador at large, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to India with concurrent accreditation to Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives.

His last position was deputy foreign minister of Kazakhstan.
