Kazakhstan secret service assists its counterparts in Kyrgyzstan to crack down on drug lab

The National Security Committee of Kazakhstan has helped its Kyrgyz counterparts to crack down on the illegal laboratory that produced synthetic drugs and sold them in former Soviet countries.

What happened? Kazakhstani officials learned about the big drug laboratory in Kyrgyzstan and immediately gave this information to their counterparts in the neighboring country. As a result, the Kyrgyzstani law enforcement agency managed to detain the group’s leader near Bishkek.

«The National Security Committee of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan conducted a joint operation and liquidated the big laboratory that produced drugs with the purpose of their distribution in CIS countries. We shared this information within our international interaction,» the committee’s press service reported.

A group of drug couriers was detained in the suburbs of Bishkek at the end of June. Law enforcement officials detained perpetrators when they tried to transport a batch of drugs.

How big was the drug laboratory? When the Kyrgyz police raided the laboratory, they seized 30 kilos of mephedrone, 2.2. tons of chemicals for drug production and relevant equipment.

Since the beginning of 2023, Kazakhstani law enforcement agencies have seized

780 kilogram of synthetic drugs and 68 tons of precursors for drug production. The country identified and destroyed 24 drug laboratories and 20 international and 23 regional drug trafficking channels.
