In the first six months of 2024, nearly 600,000 tourists visited Kazakhstan. Most of them came from Russia, China and India, according to the Bureau of National Statistics.
The diversity of international tourists is growing each year, with more travelers from distant countries choosing to visit Kazakhstan.
«The growing number of inbound tourists, particularly from India, Turkey and the U.S., indicates that Kazakhstan is becoming a more attractive destination on the global tourist map,» said Nurtas Karipbayev, chairman of the Committee for Tourism Industry.
During this period, Russia was the leading source of tourists (186,000 people), followed by China (70,000), India (53,000), Turkey (30,000) and the U.S. (20,000). Most of these tourists visited Almaty.
According to the city’s tourism department, Almaty received over 300,000 international visitors from January to June 2024, marking a 15.6% increase year-on-year.
