President Tokayev confirms Kazakhstan’s commitment to One China policy

On March 26, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev hosted Liu Jianchao, head of the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party, at the Akorda Residence and expressed support for global initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

«Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has expressed confidence that during the upcoming visit of the Chinese President to Astana to participate in the second China-Central Asia Summit in June, new horizons for strategic partnership will be outlined,» Akorda.kz reported.

On top of that, President Tokayev supported global initiatives proposed by Xi Jinping aimed at establishing a fair world order in accordance with the UN Charter.

«The head of state confirmed the country’s unwavering commitment to the ‘One China’ policy. Liu Jianchao highlighted that China considers Kazakhstan from a strategic importance perspective and attaches high priority to deepening the Kazakh–=-Chinese eternal comprehensive partnership,» Akorda.kz said.

The sides also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in trade and economy, investments, and cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Notably, it was previously announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping would visit Moscow for the Victory Day military parade, marking the 80th anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War. This will be the first time a Chinese leader attends a parade in Moscow since 2015.
