Kazakhstan has entered the world’s top 10 countries for digital public service quality, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov announced during a recent cabinet meeting. According to him, the country’s leap forward is the result of streamlined bureaucratic processes and the continued development of its e-government (eGov.kz) system.

«Kazakhstan has joined the top 10 countries in the world in the provision of digital public services,» Bektenov said. «We have reached the stage of proactive and seamless service delivery; citizens no longer need to visit government offices to access services.»

One notable example of this digital-first approach is the automatic assignment of an Individual Identification Number (IIN) to newborns. Bektenov noted that birth certificates are now issued via SMS and social benefits are calculated automatically without requiring manual applications.

He also credited partnerships with banks for significantly improving public access to government services through mobile apps. However, the prime minister stressed that continued progress depends on addressing several key challenges.

«First and foremost, it is crucial to modernize eGov.kz’s server infrastructure and prevent system failures. The platform must operate flawlessly, 24/7,» he said.

The government also plans to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence into the eGov.kz system and expand high-speed internet access across all regions of the country.

«This will allow every citizen to receive services online, regardless of where they live,» Bektenov said.

Previously, Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev announced that Kazakhstan is undergoing a large-scale modernization of the official eGov.kz portal. He said the platform is being rebuilt using new technologies to ensure faster and more user-friendly access to government services.
