Want to customize your car’s exterior? Tashkent-based detailer shows what not to do

A detailing center in Tashkent sparked public outrage after showcasing a car modification where live fish were sealed under a plastic cover on the car’s hood. The video, shared on Threads by digital marketer @nicafournier, quickly went viral. Social media users are now demanding legal action, calling the act cruel and unethical.
«This is legalized mockery. Shut down the detailing service and jail the ‘experts’!» wrote one commenter under the post.
Another user added:
«I’ve kept aquariums for 13 years. The fish will die in just a few hours.»
Many commenters are urging law enforcement to intervene and investigate the incident as animal cruelty. They stress that such acts should be explicitly prohibited by law.
Some users also referenced similar practices, such as placing live fish in glasses as wedding decorations, which often leads to the animals dying during the event.
«They’re floating belly-up by the end of the night,» one person noted.
Meanwhile, Nicafournier expressed skepticism that the detailing shop would face consequences, pointing out that even more severe incidents in the country often go unpunished unless there’s widespread public outcry.
Placing live fish above a running engine, which emits intense heat, is dangerous and likely fatal to the animals. The situation is made worse by Tashkent’s scorching summer temperatures, which average +36°C to +38°C in July and August.
Kursiv reached out to the Tashkent police for comment on whether the detailing shop would face charges for animal cruelty. As of publication, no response has been received.
