Prince Andrew allegedly sought police help in 2011 to gather personal details about Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of abuse as a teenager, Times Live reported, citing The Mail on Sunday.

The news broke days after Andrew relinquished his Duke of York title. On Friday, the 65-year-old royal and younger brother to King Charles III announced he would stop using the title, after years of public backlash over his association with the late U.S. financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Notably, in 2022, authorities stripped Andrew of his military roles and royal patronages amid sexual misconduct allegations. That year, he reached an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre, who alleged he abused her while she was underage.

Giuffre, who died by suicide in April, recently drew renewed attention with her memoir. Andrew has consistently denied the accusations.

According to The Mail on Sunday, Andrew allegedly instructed a security officer to collect information on Giuffre, referencing an email he sent to Queen Elizabeth II’s deputy press secretary. In the message, Andrew reportedly said he had given authorities Giuffre’s date of birth and Social Security number and claimed she might have a U.S. criminal record.

The Metropolitan Police in London said they are «actively looking into» the allegations.
