OpenAI partners with Amazon in $38 billion AI infrastructure deal

OpenAI has signed a $38 billion deal with Amazon to use the company’s U.S. data centers for its artificial intelligence operations. The agreement grants OpenAI access to large-scale computing through Amazon Web Services (AWS), utilizing hundreds of thousands of Nvidia AI chips, according to Euronews.
The collaboration, announced on Monday, marks a shift in OpenAI’s cloud strategy following a recent revision of its long-standing partnership with Microsoft, which had been its exclusive cloud provider.
Amazon said that the deal addresses the growing demand for computing power driven by rapid advancements in AI. OpenAI will begin using AWS immediately, with full deployment expected by the end of 2026.
The move comes as OpenAI continues to expand its infrastructure to support products like ChatGPT and to develop new AI models. The company has committed more than $1 trillion to AI-related initiatives, including partnerships with Oracle, SoftBank and chipmakers Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom.
Amazon already serves as the primary cloud partner for Anthropic, another major AI company and competitor to OpenAI, highlighting Amazon’s growing role in supporting the global AI ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Freedom Cloud, a subsidiary of Freedom Holding Corp., has signed a partnership agreement with AWS, marking the first official collaboration between a Central Asian cloud provider and a global cloud technology company.
