Sabalenka sets new record for seasonal earnings in women’s tennis

Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka has set a record for the highest amount of prize money won by a woman in a single season. The world No. 1 earned $15,008,519, surpassing the previous mark of $12,385,572 set by American Serena Williams in 2013.

At the Australian Open, the Belarusian player was defeated by Madison Keys of the U.S. (3‑6, 6‑2, 5‑7). In the Roland-Garros final, Sabalenka lost to Coco Gauff (6‑7, 6‑2, 6‑4). Recently, at the season-ending WTA Finals, Sabalenka handed the title to Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan, losing 3‑6, 6‑7.
