Freedom Bank has received permission from Kazakhstan’s Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market to open a subsidiary bank in Georgia, the bank said in a statement.
«The next step is the registration of FBG Company JSC, a special-purpose vehicle that will be authorized to obtain a digital bank license from the National Bank of Georgia,» the statement read.
At the first stage, FBG Company is expected to obtain a banking license. Upon receipt of the document, the company will be transformed into a commercial bank and renamed Freedom Bank Georgia JSC.
According to Aidos Zhumagulov, a member of Freedom Bank’s board, the Georgian financial sector demonstrates a high level of digitalization and openness, making it one of the most promising markets in the region.
«There is plenty of work that must be done to obtain a bank license from the Central Bank of Georgia. We intend to develop advanced banking services in this country, as well as to be an active participant in the digital transformation of public services, implementing best practices based on the bank’s experience and its ecosystem,» Zhumagulov said.
Freedom Finance, the sole shareholder of Freedom Bank, announced on Sept. 19, 2025, that it would expand its banking business into Georgia.
