Kazakh President is lambasting his own government over Grok and ChatGPT

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev criticized government officials for what he described as excessive use of artificial intelligence tools, including Grok and ChatGPT, in their official work. He made the remarks Tuesday while discussing digitalization and the activities of the Financial Monitoring Agency.
Concerns over growing dependence
Tokayev said he is concerned by what he sees as a growing tendency among both officials and the public to rely too heavily on AI technologies.
«I’ve noticed that people have begun to depend on artificial intelligence. They’ve even stopped writing their own speeches, delegating that to Grok and ChatGPT,» Tokayev said. «This means people are no longer learning properly or receiving the necessary education, but instead are learning how to use this intelligence in different ways. This is a very serious side effect.»
Balancing technology and human judgment
Tokayev emphasized that while digital tools can improve efficiency, they should not replace independent thinking, professional judgment or personal responsibility. He said maintaining a balance between adopting modern technologies and developing one’s own knowledge and skills is especially important as Kazakhstan continues its push toward digitalization.
