Two years remain until the release of the four films about the legendary music group The Beatles, directed by Sam Mendes, but the project has already sparked widespread excitement. The reason lies in its all-star cast and an unusual first announcement.

The photos from the upcoming biopics about the group’s members have begun circulating online. The films are scheduled for release in the spring of 2028.

Fans got their first look at the actors portraying the band members: Harris Dickinson as John Lennon («The King’s Man,» «Maleficent: Mistress of Evil»), Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney («Gladiator II,» «Hamnet»), Joseph Quinn as George Harrison («Stranger Things»), and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr («The Batman,» «Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man»).

Notably, the titles of the individual films have not yet been announced. The four projects are currently known by modest placeholder names such as «Untitled Ringo Starr Biopic,» «Untitled George Harrison Biopic,» and so on. The distributor is Sony Pictures.

The first official images of the actors in character were not unveiled at a major presentation or on social media but were instead handed to the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, where they were placed around the campus as part of a promotional hunt for students to find. The images were later shared online and quickly went viral.

In the photos, the actors portray the musicians at different points in their lives. Mescal appears as a young McCartney from the Cavern Club era, while Dickinson resembles Lennon in the late 1960s. Keoghan and Quinn look more like mature versions of Starr and Harrison, without the band’s instantly recognizable «Beatles» hairstyles.
