Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Education announced teaching guidelines on the use of artificial intelligence (AI), developed by the National Academy of Education named after Ybyrai Altynsarin. Kursiv LifeStyle explains how teachers are advised to use AI and curb homework copying.
Primarily, the ministry stated that AI cannot replace the teacher’s role. Instead, the tools are intended to be used as assistants — for example, to prepare lessons using AI or to compare students’ performance.
At the same time, teachers remain responsible for key decisions — they determine lesson content, grade students’ work, and make final decisions themselves. Using AI alone to evaluate knowledge is not allowed.
«Students’ personal data must not be entered into third-party services. Platforms used in class must comply with legal requirements,» the ministry noted.
Simultaneously, students are not allowed to submit AI-generated texts or solved tasks as their own work. Any AI-created material must be checked by a teacher.
The list of approved tools for classroom use includes Canva, ChatGPT, Gemini Storybook, NotebookLM, Reading Coach and Google Lens. These tools are expected to reduce the time spent on paperwork and make lessons more flexible.
The guidelines are available on the official website of the National Academy of Education named after Ybyrai Altynsarin.
