Police save Hungarian tourist from rain on highway in western Kazakhstan

A Hungarian national named Daniel found himself in a life-threatening situation during a trip in Kazakhstan, as his journey took an unexpected turn and nearly ended in hypothermia on a deserted road, Polisia.kz reported. The incident occurred on the 231st kilometer of the Shetpe-Say-Otes highway near the Manat Pass.
Help at the Manat Pass
The lone traveler was spotted by highway patrol officers walking under heavy rain toward Aktau. Traveling on foot in this area is a risky venture, so Captains Yerbol Zhalgassov and Abish Taimanov pulled up immediately.
As it turned out, Daniel decided to walk part of the route; however, the tourist hadn’t accounted for Mangystau’s peculiar weather. The foreigner was soaked and needed help.
Safety first
The officers not only warmed Daniel up but also arranged his onward journey. They flagged down a passing car and arranged with the driver to take their guest safely to Aktau.
Thanks to the attentiveness of the police officers, the Hungarian traveler will remember Kazakhstan not only for the steppe rains but for the hospitality of people in uniform.
