Tokayev to visit Seoul to take part in Central Asia–South Korea summit

Kang Hoon-sik, chief of staff to the president of the Republic of Korea, who is traveling to Kazakhstan, Oman and Saudi Arabia to secure additional crude oil supplies for the South Korean economy, was received by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
During the meeting, Tokayev emphasized that South Korea is one of Kazakhstan’s key strategic partners.
«Your visit is of great importance for the further strengthening of Kazakh-Korean cooperation. I am confident that, through joint efforts, cooperation between our countries will continue to develop steadily,» Tokayev noted.
Key topics of the talks
According to Kang Hoon-sik, Seoul intends to strengthen investment ties with Kazakhstan and implement joint projects in energy, transport and logistics. He also extended congratulations to the president on the successful referendum on Kazakhstan’s new constitution.
In conclusion, Kang Hoon-sik handed over to Tokayev an invitation from President Lee Jae Myung to visit Seoul and take part in the first Republic of Korea–Central Asia summit, scheduled for September 2026.
In turn, Tokayev conveyed warm greetings to the South Korean president. The head of state expressed confidence that the upcoming high-level talks will significantly intensify and strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
