Britney Spears has voluntarily entered a treatment facility, following a recent arrest for driving under the influence, NBC News reported.
In early March, the California Highway Patrol stopped the singer’s black BMW 430i after observing her driving «erratically at a high rate of speed» on a motorway. After a series of field sobriety tests, Spears was taken into custody and later released with an obligation to appear at Ventura County Superior Court on 4 May.
At the time, her representative described the incident as «completely inexcusable» and expressed hope it would mark the beginning of necessary changes in her life.
Spears has also drawn public attention due to her frequent social media posts, many of which show her dancing alone at her home in California. In one widely discussed video, she appeared dancing with knives, which she later said were not real. Her most recent such video was posted on Saturday.
Rising to fame in the late 1990s, Spears became one of pop music’s most prominent figures and was often referred to as the «Princess of Pop,» with estimated sales of over 150 million records.
