Regulatory action and accountability
The Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan held the airport’s management administratively liable for infrastructure deficiencies, according to an official statement.
Following a meeting with law enforcement agencies, the airport’s president imposed disciplinary measures on several senior staff. Mehmet Güzel, senior vice president for technical affairs, who oversees infrastructure, was among those sanctioned.
Apology and repair plans
Airport representatives issued a public apology to passengers for the disruption. Contractors have begun work to address the identified construction flaws, and the administration says it plans to complete repairs and eliminate the root causes of the flooding within six months.
