The Big Blue Farms company, founded by Omani princess Sayyida Sariya Al Said, is set to invest in a shrimp farming project in Kazakhstan valued at around $50 million, according to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture. The project is expected to produce 5,300 tons of shrimp annually. Part of the output is intended for export.

A memorandum on an investment project to establish a modern shrimp farming facility in Kazakhstan was signed at the Fisheries Committee. The investor side was represented by Big Blue Farms board member Marcia Favale, while the Fisheries Committee was represented by Chairman Serik Sermagambetov.

«The international company Big Blue Farms is the project’s investor. The Kazakh company Artex Machinery will act as the local partner and project contractor,» the statement said.

The project includes the introduction of advanced European land-based recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS). The initiative aims to establish a high-tech production facility for premium output, compliant with international quality standards and environmental safety.

The project is expected to meet not only domestic demand but also contribute to the development of the region’s export potential. Once full production capacity is reached, more than 300 jobs will be created.
