
Almaty residents are sharing photos of Big Almaty Peak taken from the city, as high cloud cover partially obscured the mountains. However, one of the peaks remained visible and was illuminated by afternoon sunlight. Combined with the surrounding clouds, the scene appeared almost fairytale-like. A post with the view has gone viral on Threads, receiving more than 42,000 likes.

Big Almaty Peak, also known as Big Almaty Pyramid, is a mountain peak on the northern slope of the Trans-Ili Alatau range of the Tien Shan mountains, located about 15 kilometers from Almaty.

The peak stands at 3,680 meters above sea level.

Some users also shared views from the summit of the mountain on the same day.

While the climb is not highly technical, it is physically demanding, and beginners are advised not to attempt it without proper preparation. The summit lies beyond Big Almaty Lake.
