Since June 2, authorities in Fukushima, Japan, have been unable to capture a bear that has been on the loose in the area. The animal has injured four people, though none of the injuries is believed to be life-threatening. The bear was hiding at a factory but eventually escaped through a window, evading capture by authorities, Kyodo reported.
Earlier this week, media outlets circulated a video showing a bear knocking a man to the ground near a building and then running inside before it could do anything else to him, as a car sped toward it.
The animal first ran onto the grounds of a steelworks before moving on to an electronics factory, where box traps were being set up and tranquilizers were to be used. A tranquilizer dart struck the bear but failed to sedate it.
Nearby schools switched to online classes for three days. Police cordoned off the electronics factory. At around 11 p.m. on June 4, an officer saw the bear open a window on its own, climb out and then scale the fence.
One can only hope that the bear manages to find its way back to the woods on its own without injuring anyone along the way.
Previously, Kursiv Lifestyle reported that a brown bear attempted to break into a guest house where tourists were staying in Zhongar-Alatau National Park.
