Furthermore, Russia has transferred the Gagarin’s Start, the assembly and fueling complex and the dynamic testing stand, providing new opportunities for event tourism development at the Cosmodrome.
«Investment proposals for potential investors interested in facility modernization and the development of modern tourism infrastructure have been prepared,» the ministry’s press service said in a statement.
Under the plans, tourism in Baikonur is set to become year-round rather than limited to rocket launches. The initiative has been under discussion for some time; however, no details have yet been provided on planned events.
The Baikonur Cosmodrome and the city of Baikonur are leased by Russia from Kazakhstan until 2050 under a long-term agreement.
