Chinese auto giant Changan has launched an unusual promotional campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The company has tied the promotion of its Deepal electric vehicles to the performance of one of the most popular national teams. Under certain conditions, participants in the campaign will be able to use a car for a year, according to CarNewsChina.

Portugal’s goal equals a car

The campaign comes as part of a partnership between Changan and Portugal’s national football team.

Under the campaign’s conditions, each goal by the Portugal national team in normal time adds a car to the prize pool. The better the team performs, the more cars will be available to win.

At the same time, this is not about transferring ownership of the cars. Winners will receive the right to use the vehicles free of charge for one year.

Changan plans to leverage interest in the event to strengthen Deepal’s brand position in the domestic market. Such promotional campaigns are not uncommon; however, linking the number of prizes to the performance of a specific national team appears unusual.

To participate in the campaign, potential buyers must take a test drive at Deepal dealerships.

Cristiano Ronaldo could also be a source of additional interest. Despite his age, the legendary forward remains the Portuguese national team’s main star.

Deepal already known in Kazakhstan

The brand is gradually expanding its presence in overseas markets, including Kazakhstan. However, these electric and hybrid vehicles are not officially sold in the country yet and are brought in only by private importers.

The campaign is another example of how Chinese automakers use major sporting events to draw attention to their brands.
