Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of Emirates, one of the UAE’s two flagship carriers, has launched weekly flights to Almaty, giving Kazakhstan direct air freight access to Dubai.

According to the Almaty Airport press service, the airline will operate flights on the Almaty-Dubai-Almaty route every Tuesday. The service will carry perishable goods, electronics, equipment and other cargo.

«The new weekly cargo flights on the Almaty-Dubai-Almaty route will operate on Tuesdays and will provide over 100 tons of cargo capacity per week,» the press service said.

In Almaty, the inaugural flight, operated by a Boeing 777F, was welcomed with a traditional water cannon salute and a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the launch of the new route. With the launch, Almaty becomes Emirates SkyCargo’s first destination in Central Asia.
