Kazakhstani figure skater and Olympic champion Mikhail Shaidorov is set to launch his own ice show. The premiere is expected in December, and he plans to continue developing the project after retiring from competitive skating.

Shaidorov shared his plans in a conversation with Kazakhstani former tennis player Zarina Diyas.

«I’d like to help develop our sport. There’s so much potential and so many opportunities,» Shaidorov said.

Earlier, the figure skater found himself at the center of a controversy over delayed salary payments and a contract dispute. After the issue was resolved, Shaidorov pledged to use the money to support young figure skaters. On June 4, it was reported that the Olympic champion had donated high-quality skates worth around $12,300 to students at a youth sports school.

On June 18, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports announced that the athlete had received his Olympic prize money.
