Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Pedro Vargas David, chairman of the board of directors of Euronews. The two discussed prospects for expanding cooperation with the media group.

Tokayev said Euronews holds a special place among the world’s media organizations thanks to its reputation for impartial coverage.

«Since opening its regional office in Astana in 2024, Euronews has been covering political, economic and cultural developments in Kazakhstan and Central Asia more extensively,» the president said.

Tokayev welcomed the launch of Euronews broadcasts in Kazakh, calling it a vivid demonstration of the mutually beneficial cooperation.

Pedro Vargas David said Kazakh would become the first Central Asian language to be included in the Euronews network. He also congratulated the people of Kazakhstan on the adoption of the new Constitution, saying its principles reflect the country’s commitment to building a stronger and more progressive state.

The two also discussed the outcome of Tokayev’s recent official visit to Brussels. According to Vargas David, European audiences responded positively to the key points outlined in the president’s article on the prospects for expanded strategic partnership between Astana and the EU, published by Euronews ahead of the visit.

They also discussed joint initiatives to integrate the region into the global information space and to raise Kazakhstan’s international profile.
