Four venues from Almaty made it onto The World’s 50 Best Discovery, a guide highlighting restaurants, bars, and hotels worth travelers’ attention worldwide. Kursiv LifeStyle takes a look at the venues that made the prestigious list.

Concept-driven restaurant and bar Cece, along with the bars Domashniy, Yellow Door, and French 42, received recognition.

The World’s 50 Best Discovery is a guide by the creators of one of the world’s most renowned restaurant rankings, The World’s 50 Best, featuring venues recommended by industry experts, including chefs, restaurateurs, bartenders, critics and journalists.

For Arina Nikolskaya, who promotes Kazakhstani gastronomy internationally, the recognition reflects several years of systematic work.

Over the past year, Kazakhstan has welcomed more than 30 international food and beverage industry experts, while the teams behind Cece and Domashniy represented the country in more than 15 countries through festivals, guest shifts and industry events.

«For Kazakhstan, this means much more than the success of individual projects. When multiple independent teams receive international recognition, it signals that the world is beginning to see Kazakhstan as a fully-fledged gastronomic destination,» Nikolskaya said.

Previously, Kazakhstani venues Auyl, Qazaq Gourmet and Temple were included in The World’s 50 Best Discovery. However, this is the first time multiple venues from Almaty have been included in the guide simultaneously.
