The peak of the Perseid meteor shower was expected in the Northern Hemisphere. For people in Kazakhstan, the best time to view it was from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. Kursiv LifeStyle takes a look at where the idea of stargazing took Almaty residents.
It turned out that many people wanted to witness the «shooting stars» in the early morning. Residents shared photos and videos showing a steady stream of cars heading toward the Alma-Arasan Gorge, with drivers even risking getting stuck in nighttime traffic.
Users in the comments said that the meteor shower was clearly visible from Lake Issyk. Others recommended spending the night at Shymbulachka Peak or heading to Butakovka Gorge.
