President Tokayev sets date for first session of new parliament

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed a decree on convening the first session of the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the first convocation.

Decree text

Pursuant to Paragraph 2 of Article 58 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, I hereby decree:

  1. To convene the first session of the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the first convocation on Aug. 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the city of Astana.
  2. This Decree shall enter into force on the date of its signing.

President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed this decree at the Akorda on Aug. 26, 2026, under No. 1411.

Kurultai

Earlier, Kazakhstan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) summed up the results of the Aug. 23 elections for deputies of the Kurultai, the country’s new unicameral parliament. At its meeting, the CEC announced the final voting results, voter turnout and distribution of parliamentary seats among the parties.

Results:

  • Adilet Party: 6,528,948 votes (71.17%), 110 seats;
  • Nationwide Social Democratic Party: 469,058 (5.11%), 8 seats;
  • Baytaq Green Party: 97,751 (1.07%), no seats;
  • People’s Party of Kazakhstan: 285,395 (3.11%), no seats;
  • Auyl Party: 574,621 (6.26%), 10 seats;
  • Ak Zhol Democratic Party of Kazakhstan: 478,083 (5.21%), 8 seats;
  • Respublica Party: 509,631 (5.56%), 9 seats.

Meanwhile, 2.51% of voters chose «none of the above.»
