Kazakhstani Burning Man delegation is establishing a major presence at the iconic festival. Kursiv LifeStyle looks at the building of a Kazakh aul of 11 yurts in Nevada’s desert.
The Tengri Camp team first brought an authentic Kazakh yurt to the Black Rock Desert in Nevada in 2025. It became a place where festival attendees could learn about Kazakh culture, sample traditional food and chat with participants from Kazakhstan.
This year, the team decided to expand its presence. Tengri Camp brought 11 yurts to the festival, which are now being set up ahead of the event. The team also assembled one of the yurts for AMMO, a Mexican team. This brought festival participants from different countries together in a shared space.
According to members of the delegation, the team plans to feed around 5,000 people at Burning Man this year.
«We’ve spent around $16,000 on groceries alone. All of it also has to be transported to the desert, stored, cooked and served to thousands of people,» content creator Sabina Omar wrote.
Askhat Muratov, the founder of the delegation, is actively sharing the process of building an authentic Kazakh aul on social media. The festival runs from Aug. 30 to Sept. 7.
