Hyundai to launch all-new Tucson in South Korea in October

South Korean carmaker Hyundai Motor Co. will launch the all-new Tucson SUV in South Korea this October, the company said in a news release.
The fifth-generation Tucson is a fully redesigned model arriving six years after its predecessor. Hyundai said it would announce the vehicle’s pricing in October but did not specify when sales would begin in overseas markets.
Compared with its predecessor, the all-new Tucson is larger and features a bolder design based on the company’s «Art of Steel» design language. Its dimensions have also increased: the wheelbase is 2,785 millimeters, up 30 millimeters; the length is 4,700 millimeters, up 60 millimeters; and the width is 1,905 millimeters, up 40 millimeters. The company said second-row headroom has increased by 29 millimeters to 1,031 millimeters.
The all-new Tucson will be available with two powertrain options: an approximately 190-horsepower 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and an approximately 242-horsepower 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid system. The SUV will also feature safety technologies, including a system that can bring the vehicle to a stop if the accelerator pedal is pressed accidentally and a backup power supply that preserves the door-unlocking function if the main power supply is cut off.
The model will also feature Hyundai’s next-generation Pleos Connect infotainment system, which includes Gleo AI, a generative AI assistant the company describes as an advanced intelligent companion for drivers.
Previously, Kursiv.media reported that Hyundai Motor Co. and Astana Motors had signed an agreement to produce the new Tucson in Kazakhstan following a meeting between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Hyundai Motor Group President and Head of Strategic Planning Division Sung Kim.
