Kim Namjoon, professionally known as RM and leader of K-pop powerhouse BTS, is set to put his art collection on display in a collaboration with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), marking the first museum exhibition featuring works from his personal collection.
According to the museum, the exhibition, titled «RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me,» will feature nearly 200 works from the collections of RM and SFMOMA, including nearly 150 works from RM’s personal collection. The works on display will span Korean art from the 13th century to the present, while the distinguishing point of the exhibition is that it will mark one of the largest presentations of Korean modern and contemporary art convened in the U.S.
Items from RM’s personal collection on display will feature paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, textiles and design works. The artist also serves as the exhibition’s curator alongside SFMOMA Project Manager and co-curator América Castillo and Assistant Curator of Painting and Sculpture and co-curator Hyoeun Kim. The museum also noted that RM’s collection reflects his personal tastes rather than academic or market trends.
«I just hope for it to be really personal,» the museum cited RM as saying.
In addition, the exhibition will feature an audio guide narrated by the artist.
The exhibition will run from Oct. 3, 2026, to Feb. 7, 2027.
