Makeup artist Alexis Stone, known for his viral transformations, has once again stunned the fashion world.
During Paris Fashion Week, Mugler — the legendary fashion house that rose to prominence in the 1990s — unveiled its Spring/Summer 2027 collection. As social media buzzed with discussion about the show and the legacy of the late Thierry Mugler, the designer himself appeared to be in the crowd.
Stone stepped out wearing a sheer veil, then removed it to reveal a look that closely replicated the iconic designer’s appearance.
The makeup artist described the transformation as a tribute to Mugler and his legacy that continues to define the fashion house today. The look was created in collaboration with the Mugler team and members of the designer’s inner circle.
Creating and preparing the makeup took about two weeks, while recreating Mugler’s bald head, beard and mustache took several hours, according to Stone.
A controversial spectacle
Some members of the fashion crowd were evidently unsettled by the display. Thierry Mugler died four years ago.
On social media, the spectacle was described as absurd and criticized as an act of inappropriate sacrilege.
Still, this was not the first time Stone had portrayed a deceased figure. In 2022, the makeup artist transformed into Mrs. Doubtfire, the character played by Robin Williams.
A year earlier, Stone had taken on the appearance of another fashion icon, Donatella Versace.
From Brighton to the fashion world
Alexis Stone, whose real name is Elliot Joseph Rentz, is from Brighton, England.
In interviews, the makeup artist has said he is self-taught. After leaving school at 16, he moved to London, where he taught himself the art of prosthetics and makeup.
