The famous red-and-black jacket Michael Jackson wore in the «Thriller» music video will go up for auction, dedicated to the King of Pop. Kursiv LifeStyle looks at how much the iconic item could fetch.

Julien’s Auctions will hold the auction in Abu Dhabi from Dec. 7 to 9. Along with the jacket, the lots include shoes the artist wore in the «Thriller» music video, as well as a glove and loafers worn during the Motown 25 show, which aired in 1983 and featured Jackson performing his iconic moonwalk for the first time.

According to the auction house, all the items will be displayed at the Palace Theatre in Los Angeles ahead of the auction.

The jacket was previously sold at auction in 2011, when American entrepreneur Milton Verret bought it for $1.8 million. Given its previous sale price, the starting bid at the upcoming auction is unlikely to be any lower.

«This jacket is one of two created for the video; the other was shredded and intentionally distressed for the sequences in the video where Jackson appears as a zombie. The distressed jacket is retained by the estate and has been on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,» the auction organizer noted.
