Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina, Belarus’s Aryna Sabalenka and Russia’s Mirra Andreeva occupy the top three spots in the latest WTA rankings.

Despite early exits at the 2026 China Open, Rybakina and Sabalenka retained their first and second places, respectively. Rybakina lost her opening match, while Sabalenka was eliminated in the second round. Meanwhile, Andreeva climbed to a career-high world No. 3.

The 19-year-old Russian reached the final of the 2026 China Open, where she lost to Qinwen Zheng, 5-7, 4-6. Andreeva, who won the 2026 French Open, earned enough ranking points in Beijing to overtake Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff.

Sabalenka, Andreeva and Pegula are competing at the WTA 1000 Wuhan Open this week. Rybakina and defending champion Gauff have both withdrawn, meaning they will lose 215 and 1,000 ranking points, respectively.

Yulia Putintseva will represent Kazakhstan in the singles main draw at the 2026 Wuhan Open after coming through qualifying. She will face Zeynep Sönmez in the first round. The pair have met once before, at the 2026 Australian Open, where Putintseva won 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3.

In doubles, Kazakhstan’s Anna Danilina will partner China’s Zhang Shuai. The 31-year-old Danilina and 37-year-old Zhang, seeded second, will receive a first-round bye and begin their campaign in the second round.

Danilina could also face Sönmez in the doubles draw. For that to happen, Sönmez and her partner, the Philippines’ Alexandra Eala, must first defeat the Ukrainian duo of Anhelina Kalinina and Dayana Yastremska.
